Why Mary Maker and Cotton Camels?
Choosing a name is always difficult, and this was no exception.
Mary is the name of my sewing machine - sister Mary to be precise. We know it's written "brother", but don't tell her, she is definitely a "she" and that must have been a typo.
She is a sister, Sister Mary, who merrily helps us. She would not have accepted to be left out of the website, which is understandable considering her big contribution to our projects.
And Cotton Camels?
Well, because i like camels. A lot.
My original suggestions "Sister Mary on the silk road with Camels" was considered too long. Also, I don't use silk, and the name sounded a bit too ambitious. Technically, I will not be on the silk road either.
So, better be realistic and admit my creations will more likely be made with cotton rather than silk, and my possibilites of engaging with real camels are low. Let's enjoy cotton camels from our couch, we will leave the real camels to a couple of weeks a year when we are on holiday (which, according to my husband, it's more than enough).
